Thank you to the parents and players for a great Week 1. Our goals are to have the kids get to know each other, get plenty of exercise, gain soccer experience, and of course have fun.
At this point our kindergartners are just learning how to play the game and control the ball. We have been asked by JA Elite to teach the "diamond formation" or a "1-2-1" format on the field (and until later grades, there isn't a 5th player in the goalie spot). Diamond formation is fairly simple: one player stands closest to the goalie (defense position), two players stand ~20 feet apart in the middle of the field (mid-fielder positions), and one is closest tot he goal (forward or striker position). We'll use the terms defense, mid-field, and forward in our games so they get used to this.
