The Recreational Referee Program supports the K-2nd Grade recreational soccer program on Saturday mornings in the Fall and Spring.

You must be a 7th Grader or older to participate.  You must attend one (1) 90 minute training session at the beginning of each season to referee for that season.

Check the DSA website for an announcement with the specifics just before the season starts.  We will also send an email blast out to everyone 7th grade and up.  There is no sign up or registration process.  Just show up for whatever session fits best for you.

Typically there are 4-6 training sessions offered each season.  These are held on the first 2 Saturdays of K-2 season.  All are at Middlesex Upper field.  On the first weekend of K-2 , we usually offer 2 AM training sessions back to back (e.g. 8-9:30, 9:30-11am) and then another 2 sessions back to back at the end of the day. (e.g. 2-3:30, 3:30-5pm)  The 2nd weekend of K-2 we will normally offer 2 more AM training sessions.  This is all subject to change based on weather and instructor availability.

The first half of the session consists of reviewing the rules for the K-2 program.*  For the second half, they will observe a K-2 Referee working a live match and then report back on their observations.  Watch the web site at the start of each season for specific announcements.  You only need to attend one session each season.

Attendance at one training session at the start of every season is MANDATORY for all referees, new and experienced ones alike.  If you do not attend a session, you will not be assigned any matches.  There are changes to the program every season and we need to make sure that everyone is up to date and that we have consistent practices across the board.
