Darien Athletic Foundation
Dear Friends of the DSA,
The DSA proudly announces our support of the Darien Athletic Foundation and their mission to increase playing opportunities for our youth athletes. The “DAF” was founded in 2013 in conjunction with the
-
Darien Soccer Association (DSA)
-
Darien Youth Lacrosse Association (DYLAX)
-
Darien Junior Football League (DJFL)
- Darien Field Hockey Association (DFHA).
In addition, The Darien Foundation for Technology & Community has committed $500,000 to the Darien Athletic Foundation as a lead donor. (www.darienfoundation.org)
The current goal of the Foundation is to further develop the athletic infrastructure in Darien through ‘The Sunny Day Project’. The DAF is working closely with the town of Darien, the Board of Education, DHS Athletic Director and Varsity Coaches, architects, and youth sports directors.
Sunny Day Project Plans:
-
New Scoreboard at the Darien High School Stadium
-
Pavilion With Concession Stand, Ticket Booth and Bathrooms at
the Darien High School Stadium
-
Three Turf Fields at Darien High School
-
Two Turf Fields at Middlesex Middle School
-
New Grass Softball Stadium at the Darien High School
-
Re-turf and Lengthen the Center Oval Field at the Darien High
School
-
Upgrade to the Existing Sound System at the Darien High
School Stadium
- Additional Grandstands at the Darien High School Oval Turf
25% of youth sporting events were canceled in 2012 and our youth population is growing! The completion of these field projects will result in greater field availability to our young athletes at all levels. The plan calls for $7.5mm of donations from community members.
